Episode 6
1．Chandler: Oh please, could she be more out of my league? Ross, back me up here.
out of someone’s league:
（见今日Live and Learn）
back me up:
这里意思为support me，“快来支持我，快来援助我。”backup也有表示“后备”的意思。
例：We should have a backup plan in advance. 我们要预先有个后备方案。

Episode 7
2．Rachel:  Wow, this is so cool, you guys. The entire city is blacked out!
black out: 使…停电，熄灯，例：The storm blacked out the whole city. 风暴使整座城市断电了。另外，black out也有突然失去知觉、封锁新闻等含义，具体要看上下文来判断。

3．Monica: OK, I'll go. OK, senior year of college...
来回顾一下大学里年级的说法：
一年级的大学新生：freshman;  二年级大学生：sophomore;
三年级大学生：junior;        四年级大学生：senior;
undergraduate 本科生

4. Phoebe: (smiling) You betcha!
betcha: bet you=you bet, 字面意思为你打赌，表示“当然，真的如此”的意思。例如：① I betcha this movie is a good one. 我敢肯定这是部不错的电影。
      ② -And would you like fries with that? -You Betcha. -你要就着这个来点炸薯条吗？-好啊！
口语中类似的表达很多，又比如getcha=get you

5. Monica: Okay, I-I d'know, you-you just- you have a quality.
You have a quality：“你就有一种气质。”这是一种中性的评价。这里Monica说到Chandle身上有一种gay(同性恋)的气质。

6．Aunt Lillian: The doctor says it's a matter of hours.
a matter of hours: 这不过是时间早晚的问题。
a matter of something是很有用的一个表达组合，表示关于．．．的事情。
例如：Mothers as a matter of course have much affection for their children.　母亲自然很疼孩子。
It is a matter of course that industry will bring us success, wealth and good luck.　　勤奋自然会带来成功、财富和好运。

7．Ross: Oh! ...Yeah, they were gross.
gross: 总值。 GDP：gross domestic product 国内生产总值  GNP：gross national product 国民生产总值。
在这里，gross作为形容词类似于disgusting, nasty。
例如：That looks so gross. 那个看上去真恶心。

8. Mr. Geller: C'mon, you'll make a day of it!
make a day of it: devote a day (or night) to some pleasurable pursuit 利用一整天，愉快度过一整天。
例：Now that we're at the beach, let's make a day of it. 既然我们已经在海边，就不妨愉快地度过一整天吧。
