China is an impatient nation, said an article published by Guangdong’s “New Weekly” magazine. Chinese people prefer to fast forward videos, refresh Web pages, and use express mail service. We want both fame and money as workers, desire to get rich overnight as business openers and own a car and a house as newlyweds. We jump the queue when waiting in a line.
广东《新周刊》杂志近日刊文称，中国成为了“急之国”。中国人最爱“快进”，狂点“刷新”。寄信，最好是特快专递。做事，最好是名利双收。创业，最好是一夜暴富。结婚，最好有现房现车。排队，最好能插队。
Why not take it slow? 国人为何丧失慢的能力？
We compete for everything due to lack of resources and imbalance of distribution. Moreover, we are mad for speed and convenience. The more modernized our life is, the more anxious we are. The consequence is more haste, less speed. Most of us who are so desperate when pursuing happiness, even gasping for breath, end up missing it, said Danish philosopher Soren Aabye Kierkegaard(1813-1855) .

People`s impatience may stem from instability of the social structure. That is, you`re always afraid of being left behind if you miss any chance. Technology is another reason. Everything from credit card and customer service to printers can make you freak out. We wish we could be less worried with those inventions, but in fact we are more.
人们的烦躁症，来自社会结构的不稳定。因为你总在担心，如果这个机会不抓住，你就被社会抛离了。此外，高科技带来了不耐烦。信用卡，顾客服务，打印机……这些东西都被列入了“抓狂物件”。我们发明了很多东西来试图解决烦躁症，但实际上却只是发明了另外一些烦躁症。

In another sense, we like queuing. We often see a whole family line up in turn to buy houses 3 days ahead of the sale day. People are also willing to wait outside popular but crowed restaurants, and queue for 9 hours just to see a 3D movie at the Shanghai Expo. Patience and impatience coexist in China. Living in the modern world with traditional moods, we are restless but contented.
我们排队买房，提前3天就全家轮班开始排。人越多的餐厅，我们就越喜欢。我们还喜欢排9个小时的队去世博会看立体电影。我们似乎又很多耐心。这就是中国。传统心态和现代境遇扭合在一起，我们焦躁不安却又心安理得。
